Club History

Club Background

Our club was created in 1998 from two clubs that shared a vision of one unified club that would truly represent the communities of the Western Suburbs of Wollongong. Both Figtree and Unanderra Senior Clubs saw an opportunity to form a club that would be beneficial not only for district football but most importantly the junior players of the Western Suburbs District.

The club represents the whole of the Western Suburbs of the Illawarra district. It incorporates the districts of West Wollongong, Figtree, Unanderra, Cordeaux Heights, Farmborough Heights and Kembla Grange.

Our club is the Senior Club to two outstanding Junior Soccer Clubs, namely Unanderra Hearts Soccer Club and Figtree Junior Soccer Club. Between our junior bodies we embrace 1,200 juniors out of a possible 8,000 playing in the Illawarra Junior Soccer Association

Our focus: Success will come through our teamwork, fostering our juniors and dedication to having a successful club.

Wests Illawarra Football Club currently runs two teams, First Grade & Youth Grade (under 20 years of age). We have 40 players registered with the club which plays and trains at Unanderra Oval, Richards St Unanderra. We share the facilities with our junior club, Unanderra Hearts Soccer Club. .
