Wests players to “Adopt a Junior Team”
25th March 2009
All WIFC players and coaches this season will participate in a new initiative that will involve the senior clubs two associated junior clubs Figtree JSC and Unanderra Hearts SC. The program which has been agreed upon in principle with both Junior Executive committees and also WIFC Executives will see every player adopt a junior team between the ages of 6-9 form the junior clubs. There will be approximately 35 teams that will participate in the program and sees a fantastic opportunity for Wests Illawarra Football Club and its players become more active in the junior clubs.
Each senior player will randomly draw a team from a particular club and will actively be involved in a training session with that team and also watch there particular game on the weekend. In return all players from ages 6-9 will receive a WIFC junior supporter’s cap and season pass for there involvement in the program.
Wests Illawarra FC boasts many players in there current first and youth teams that have either played for Figtree or Unanderra. The program will give these players a chance to go back to there junior clubs and be more involved with junior players like they once were many years ago.
